Welcome to India Policy Wiki
From India Policy Wiki
India Policy Wiki is a multi-lingual, open-content, collaborative platform mainly aimed at simplifying public policy discussion. One of the idea to achieve this goal is by translating legislation to major Indian languages using this wiki. We are not affiliated to any particular organization or a political party, but will draw policy related content from a number of sources.
What is India Policy Wiki ?India Policy Wiki is your platform. A platform for providing information about policy issues in India and also to enable an open space for policy discussions. Most of the legislations passed in the Parliament last for at least 75 to 100 years. However these legislations are not debated or discussed enough. There is a need to make the common person aware of these policy matters and make sure that their opinions are heard on issues that concern all citizens. Our initial thrust is to simplify policy issues by translating summaries of recent Bills in the Parliament and use Internet and other Media (regional newspapers etc.) to educate and inform the common person. This online, multi-lingual, open-content, collaborative platform is a voluntary association of individuals working to develop a common resource of knowledge related to Indian Legislation in various Indian languages. The objective of this exercise is to make policy issues widely accessible to a number of people in India in multiple regional languages. India Policy Wiki is not affiliated to any particular organization or political party but it will draw policy related content from any number of sources. What is a Bill Summary
Legislative Briefs are prepared based on Bills that are pending in Parliament. They are authored by PRS Legislative Research, a non-partisan independent research initiative. These briefs are easy-to-understand documents providing a jargon-free, non-partisan analytical overview of the issues as well as the implications and impact of the Bills.
India Policy Wiki intends to translate summaries of these briefs among other policy related articles into Indian languages to reach a wider audience and increase their public engagement in policy issues. Some of these summaries are produced by PRS and some have been extracted from PRS Legislative briefs. Each summary page has a reference link to the full legislative brief as well as the original Bill text, if you are looking for more information.
India Policy Wiki is not affiliated with PRS. Please visit PRS for more details.
